Why LED lights are better than LED bulbs?
LED lights are more expensive than regular LED bulbs. The question naturally arises: is it not cheaper to buy an ordinary chandelier and screw LED bulbs into it to save energy? We analyze why in the end it turns out not at all cheaper and not more profitable:
1. LED bulb, especially good one, is also not cheap. At the same time, its declared service life is 2-5 times less than that of LED lamps, and the actual one, judging by numerous reviews, is even several times shorter. As a rule, light bulbs with a declared service life of 10,000 hours, i.e. 4 years when used 7 hours a day, in fact burn out in a year or less.
There is an explanation for this: the LED lamp is a complex technical device that consists of many components. One of the main ones is a large heatsink that effectively removes heat from the LEDs, otherwise they will stop working due to overheating. The larger the radiator, the longer the diodes shine.
However, due to the design features of the light bulb, there is simply nowhere to place a large radiator there. Most often, therefore, the LED bulb fails quite quickly - due to poor cooling, the LEDs overheat and go out forever. And again, you need to go to the store for new ones or order online, then stand on a chair, unscrew the burnt ones, screw in new ones ... such is the annual “entertainment”. As a result, there is no saving: no money, no time.
High-quality LED lamps work without loss of brightness for at least 10 years, fully paying off the investment in themselves. This is just one of the reasons why LED lamps are more reliable and more profitable than light bulbs.
2. Color rendering index (CRI) is one of the main characteristics of light that you need to pay attention to. And in this important parameter, LED bulbs are inferior to lamps. The standard for color rendering is sunlight, in sunlight all colors and shades look the way they should look. The CRI of sunlight is 100.
The color rendering index of light in residential premises must be at least 80. For example, our luminaires from the Carmel series have a color rendering of 95+, i.e. as close as possible to natural sunlight.
The value of the color rendering index on the packages of LED light bulbs is often not found. With any luck, the bulb will have a CRI of 80, more likely 70, which is low for a residential environment.
What happens if the color rendering is low? It's simple: colors and shades do not look natural. Try looking at, say, a burgundy-colored bag under a street lamp. You will see not a burgundy bag, but a brown one - the color is distorted due to the low color rendering of street light. However, for a lantern this is the norm, but for lighting in a house it is not. After all, firstly, in light with poor color reproduction, the colors look faded and unnatural, which spoils the interior. Secondly, high CRI light is especially important for children so that their color perception is formed correctly, red should be red and blue should be blue. So when buying light, be sure to pay attention to CRI and make the right choice.
3. A modern and comfortable interior is not only the right choice of style, materials and furniture. Every year, the lighting environment in the house plays an increasingly important role, as well as how well the lighting design is done in it. A lot depends on this: how harmonious the space looks, and the health of its inhabitants, and how much money they pay every month for electricity.
Here are a few reasons why modern interior designers and lighting designers use LED lighting in their projects:
• The main thing is that with their help a lot of options for lighting solutions are created
• Allow to create accent or diffused light
• Possibility to organize multi-level lighting
• High color rendering
• Energy saving
• Possibility of dimming and connection to the "Smart Home" system
• Long service life
A lone chandelier in the middle of a room with a few light bulbs is every designer's pain. After all, the right light is one of the main components of a cozy and comfortable home. During repairs, do not forget about the light - this is no less important than the layout and choice of materials. And LED lamps will become your faithful assistants in creating your dream home.
